161 Years of Care: Bel-Wood Nursing Home

After 161 years, Bel-Wood has been home to many generations of the area's elderly and infirm. Activity assistant Kathy Haggard, who has worked at Bel-Wood for 24 years, has had seven family members live at Bel-Wood and another 8 family members work there. "I've already told my family that this is where I want to go when the time comes," Haggard said. She gives resident Millie Cullen-Johnson a big hug during lunch Thursday. At right is Cullen-Johnson's husband John who drives to Bel-Wood every day from the couple's south Peoria home to be with his wife.
