Chillicothe flood plain

Sailboat Rowman

  • Blake Galliford has called the sailboat he is rebuilding his home for the past two months at Seaway Marina on the Illinois River. Galliford says the rotted out bulkhead prevents him from using the sail, so he plans to use oars to row his 25-foot boat 1,300 miles down the river to New Orleans. Despite freezing conditions, Galliford says his conditioning as a bike rider makes him confident that he can make the journey. Galliford has an electric trolling motor and a gas motor as backups.
